When you first create a blog with Wordpress, I highly suggest that the first thing you do after customizing your Wordpress Dashboard Options is to install these 3 Plugins.

There are programmers all over the world who build these plugins to do little jobs for them and then they share them. Most of them are given away free of charge, so feel free to experiment with them if you like.
When I first create a blog for myself or clients, these are the first three I install and activate.

I found this post of 102 practical blog tips at Daily Blog Tips and it was good enough that I thought I should post a few of them. In fact, the first 22 to be exact. The 2nd one, about writing about what you love is probably the most important of the bunch along with using Wordpress as your blogging platform. Of my two requirements of my writers, one of them is that they “must be passionate about what it is they’re writing about”. The energy from that passion comes through in the writing and passed along to the reader. As for Wordpress, that’s a given. The whole reason for this blog is to teach you how to create a blog using wordpress. In my search for the best choices, the best options, the best marketing and ease of use, Wordpress wins, hands down.
- if you are not, start blogging today
- write about something that you love
- if you are serious about blogging buy your own domain
- make sure your domain name is equal to your blog name
- use a short and easy to remember name
- use Wordpress
- use Wordpress plugins
- blog with consistency
- write at least 5 posts a week
- proofread
- proofread one more time
- interact with other bloggers
- leave meaningful comments
- leave funny comments
- leave the first comment
- backup your blog
- get rid of the sidebar calendar
- choose your niche wisely, not too big and not too small
- participate in online forums
- put a link on your signature
- use blog carnivals
- content is king
